For those new to CBD
In general, we recommend starting with 5-10 mg of CBD daily for the first 3-7 days. This can be divided in many different ways - such as 2.5 mg twice daily, 5 mg once daily, 5 mg twice daily, or 10 mg once daily.
Keep increasing your CBD dose by 5-10 mg daily every 3-7 days until you reach your desired effect.
Do not get discouraged during the initial phases if you are not receiving your intended effect - Finding your ideal CBD dose can take a few tries!
When using CBD for anxiety, starting with smaller doses and waiting up to 7 days before increasing the dose may be best. There is some information to suggest that increasing the dose too fast or starting with too high of a dose can increase anxiety for some individuals. Slow and steady dose increase may minimize this unwanted effect.
CBD Oil Bottle Calculations
CBD sublingual (under the tongue) oil is the most popular way to consume CBD. However, the oil comes in many different strengths and sizes. Some calculations are needed to solve the CBD equation!
CBD Dosing Math
For example, when the bottle says "300 mg" there is 300 mg of CBD in the entire bottle, not just in one dose. Doses are generally 1 milliliter (mL) or one entire dropper.
Typically, a CBD oil bottle is 30 mL and there are 30 doses of 1 mL each.
To calculate the amount of CBD per dose: 300 mg per bottle / 30 doses per bottle = 10 mg of CBD per 1 dose or 1 mL.
If the bottle were to be 60 mL, there would be 60 doses of 1 mL each.
300 mg per bottle / 60 doses per bottle = 5 mg of CBD per 1 dose or 1 mL.
How many drops should I take?
As a general rule, 1 mL is equal to 20 drops.
Remember - 1 mL is one dropperful. However, most CBD companies do not label their dropper and the dropper is not able to be filled all the way to the top.
If one dose, or one dropperful, contains 10 mg of CBD - this means that 20 drops contains 10 mg of CBD. 10 drops would be 5 mg of CBD and 5 drops would be 2.5 mg of CBD.
This math can be applied to any bottle strength. When in doubt, CBD Central is here to help you!
